3. How has the University dealt with disruptions occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic?

The institution has heavily invested in technology and ICT, which saw it become one of the few universities that transitioned to and sustained Open Distance E-learning throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

The University has been a pace-setter in online learning and online exams administration.Besides maintaining uninterrupted studying in unprecedented times,the open and distance learning approach has offered students flexibility in terms of what, when,at what pace, where, and how they prefer to study.We have an elaborate training program for our faculty and students on how to access and use the online resources.

Institutions of higher learning serve heterogeneous students who have differing needs and interests to be addressed. These needs and interests require a wide range of resources and capacities for them to be effectively fulfilled.Drastic advancements in technology pose challenges to institutions in that they have to rapidly switch to the new techniques facilitated by these technologies.Rising costs. The cost of efficiently running a private institution is continually rising.

This poses a challenge in ensuring that post-secondary education remains affordable, does not accrue massive student debts and does not exempt students from less privileged backgrounds from accessing education.

7. What strategies do you continue to employ to address every one of these challenges?
As a university, we are cognizant of the importance of a qualified, talented and diverse staff. We offer our students a variety of faculties that have the right disciplines and expertise, to incorporate a wide range of talents and capabilities that our students can tap into.

At Zetech University, we have learned to be flexible and try as much as possible to foresee such drastic advancements with the help of key players in technology. We also involve our students and faculty members in the shifting processes to ensure uniformity and inclusivity. Where necessary, we train our faculty members on the reforms made.

We have recently acquired land near Mang’u High School along the Thika Superhighway, where we intend to develop a state-of-the-art main campus that shall provide top-notch facilities to our students. Construction of the new campus is set to begin later this year.

Our University Management Board is constantly sourcing for channels and strategies to ensure that our students compete on a levelled financial ground. 9. What role does Zetech University play going forward, with respect to the attainment of our
economic goals as a country?
According to Kenya Vision 2030, our country should have achieved an average Gross Domestic Product
(GDP) growth rate of 10% per annum by the beginning of 2012.

Zetech University contributes towards the attainment of Kenya’s economic goals through the creation ofa labor market that is equipped with skills and competencies that align with the market needs.Our institution is very keen on exposing students to massive capacity building, innovation,community empowerment and mentorship programs. 10. What motivates you as an in individual?
I am motivated by seeing students transform from childhood to adults who can take responsibilities of serving other human beings in different spheres of life.
11. As a Vice Chancellor with outstanding management career, tell us what you think makes a good manager in your opinion.
A good manager is the one who knows he is on the steering wheel and safely navigates the organization.One appreciating the complexity of the organization and the need for all staff. One who respects all staff regardless of what they do in the organization. One who ensures oneness of purpose for all staff.
12. What do you intend to accomplish at Zetech University as a personal legacy?
A positive culture change that will make Zetech the most saught after university due to quality of services in all areas of operation and thus grow student numbers to over 10000. Actualize the shifting of the seat of the University from Ruiru to Mang’u.

13. As a busy executive, how do you achieve work life balance?
One never gets full balance as a CEO.I deliberately create time for work, family, church and community service.I also create time to exercise and rest.
