Twiva, a leading AI-driven influencer-powered social commerce platform, has achieved a significant milestone by winning the prestigious Social Commerce Award at an international level.
The accolade comes despite fierce competition from other notable social commerce platforms globally, solidifying Twiva’s position as a frontrunner in the industry.
The award was presented at the 7th Annual International Pacesetters Awards, held at the Argyle Grand Hotel in Nairobi. Known as “the industry’s highest honor,” the International Pacesetters Awards celebrate excellence across various sectors, with winners chosen through rigorous research and expert evaluations within their fields.
This latest recognition marks the fourth industry award Twiva has received in 2024, following the Best Social Commerce Award for the Middle East and Africa region at the Middle East & Africa Business Awards earlier this year.
Peter N. Kironji, CEO and Co-founder of Twiva, remarked on the significance of the award, stating, “This award is a testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of our founders and management. We are building the future of retail in Africa by disrupting a $500 billion industry, digitizing and democratizing market access for MSMEs, and fostering trust in one of the world’s fastest-growing markets. Through seamless integration of social experiences and e-commerce transactions, we offer a unified path to purchase.”
As Kenya’s first social commerce platform, Twiva is also the fastest-growing, boasting a community of over 11,000 influencers and more than 2,500 businesses, alongside hundreds of thousands of unique monthly visitors. This growth comes amid a challenging landscape for many e-commerce companies.
Twiva’s business model is underpinned by a Digital Economy Report from Dalberg, a global advisory firm, which indicates a trend among retailers and shoppers towards platforms that facilitate direct engagement and offer payment on delivery options. This aligns with Twiva’s innovative approach to social commerce. With only 13% of Kenyans currently utilizing e-commerce platforms, significant opportunities remain for Twiva to expand its market presence.
Twiva empowers brands to engage customers effectively by leveraging influencers who promote and sell products within their communities. The platform offers a diverse range of categories, including electronics, home goods, furniture and appliances, fashion, and health and beauty.
Grace Gikonyo, Twiva’s Head of PR and Marketing, expressed her gratitude for the recognition: “It is an honor to receive such acknowledgment. Our commitment to delivering top-quality solutions for users, resellers, and businesses is clearly paying off. We owe this success to our community of users, resellers, and merchants—thank you for believing in us.”
