Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) Chairman Kiprono Kittony has been shortlisted for the position of Chair of the World Chambers Federation/International Chamber of Commerce (WCF).The Kenyan business leader is among six finalists whose candidacy is being reviewed by the Paris Headquartered organization that serves as a global umbrella body of the Chambers movement worldwide.
“I’m delighted to offer my leadership. If successful, this will be a great opportunity to attract investors to Kenya and drive growth in the value and volume of our exports,” Mr. Kittony said in a statement.
The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), which is a member of WCF, has thrown its weight behind Mr. Kittony’s candidacy.KNCCI President Dr. Erick Rutto in a statement credited Mr. Kittony with the revival of the institution during his time as Chairman.“He is widely credited with the revival of KNCCI. His candidacy has been endorsed widely and if he succeeds, he will be the first business leader from the continent to ascend to this position,” Dr. Rutto said.
Kiprono Kittony is a well known business leader who has served as the Chairman of KNCCI and the Vice Chair representing Africa at WCF. He is the founding Chairman of Radio Africa Group, the CEO of Capital Realtime, and is an astute Board Chairman and Company Director, having featured in several prestigious boards in the course of his 3-decade business career. Mr. Kittony is an entrepreneur and investor with diverse interests cutting across media and telecommunications, technology, agriculture, real estate, hospitality and financial services.
Mr. Kittony holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Nairobi. He has a Global Executive MBA from United States International University in conjunction with Columbia University.
