- KEMRI has launched its 15th Research Centre, the Sports Science Research Centre (SSRC) domiciled in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
KEMRI unveils 15th SSRC in Eldoret,Uasin Gishu County which was officially opened by the Cabinet Secretary,Ministry of Health, Nakhumincha S. Wafula is designed to prioritize sports health research, including comprehensive analysis of biological passports, factors associated with anti-doping testing, nutrition and sports injuries.
The establishment of the #KEMRIEldoret SSRC, is a momentous occasion not just for the Institute, but for the whole country and especially for the sporting fraternity within the region. The Centre will also serve as the Rift Valley regional human health research center.
In her remarks, CS Nakhumicha appreciated the Institute for the groundbreaking research it carries out. “I would like to express my gratitude to KEMRI for consistently demonstrating excellence in research, which holds immense significance for both our local & global needs.”
This marks the dawn of a new era for KEMRI as we embrace the realm of Sports Medicine and Research.
The launch was also witnessed by the Principal Secretary State Department for Performance Management and Service Delivery, Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Ms.Anne N. Wang’ombe Uasin Gishu County Governor, Hon. Jonathan Bii,KEMRI Board of Directors led by Dr. Abdullahi Ali, and attended by friends and partners of KEMRI from the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya, The Nursing Council of Kenya, Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital among others
