Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) has launched the Public Procurement Study Report to enhance market access for locally produced goods and promote sustainable growth in Kenya.
This initiative aims to empower women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
With public procurement accounting for 26% of Kenya’s GDP, the KAM Procurement Study Report will ensure local enterprises can participate in a more efficient procurement system. The government’s new eGovernment Procurement System is expected to increase efficiency and transparency.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Erastus Gatebe, representing Dr Juma Mukhwana, PhD, CBS, the PS State Department for Industry, highlighted efforts to update the procurement master roll and promote the ‘Buy Kenya, Build Kenya’ initiative.
KAM Board Director Ashit Shah highlighted the importance of encouraging government entities to prioritize local procurement, emphasizing that this approach not only boosts the local economy but also fosters sustainable development and strengthens community ties.
KAM Ag. CEO, Tobias Alando, MML, Bsc., stated, “We are creating a platform with policymakers to address public procurement issues and advance impactful proposals.”
Insights from Mr. Stanley Miheso of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority and Dr. Joseph Ogachi of SPA Infosuv East Africa Ltd emphasized that this document should be a must-have resource for the country. We need to ensure this information is accessible to improve our procurement landscape.
We thank Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH for their support in developing this report. Together, we aim to drive sustainable growth and inclusivity in Kenya’s procurement landscape.
