KAM has participated in the Launch of the Karibu Business Support Center(KBSC), spearheaded by the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry.The Center seeks to empower entrepreneurs, investors, and industrialists with the necessary resources, business information and support to conduct business effectively.
Speaking during the launch,KAM CEO, Anthony Mwangi noted that the manufacturing sector continues to play a crucial role in enhancing the growth of the country’s economy.
Further, as part of our efforts to drive export-led industrialization, we have partnered with GIZ Kenya to realize the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) for Kenya’s manufacturing sector. Through this partnership, we hope to see an increased number of exporters under AfCFTA, and enhanced sustainable manufacturing and trade.
He added that as an Association, we laud the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry for the efforts put in place to enhance business facilitation and market access for local manufacturers, such as the launch of the Karibu Business Support Centre.
GIZ Kenya Head of Sustainable Economic Development and Youth Employment Cluster,Bernd Lakemeier noted that GIZ Kenya is keen on promoting trade, and has partnered with various organizations, including KAM, to achieve this.
The Principal Secretary for Industry, Dr Juma Mukhwana, PhD, CBS also noted that the Government has an ambitious plan to grow local manufacturing exports, and trade. Through various initiatives, such as the Karibu Business Support Centre (KBSC), the Ministry hopes to make Kenya a competitive trade and investment destination.
Rebecca Miano,EGH, the CS for Investments, Trade & Industry reiterated that the Government of Kenya recognizes the pivotal role that businesses play in driving economic growth and prosperity of the nation and like many other countries. It also recognises the need for an efficient and streamlined service provision that facilitates business establishment and growth.
She added that the Karibu Business Support Centers launched is an initiative born from the Government’s commitment to fostering a vibrant and dynamic industrial and investment landscape.
These Centers are not just mere brick-and-mortar establishments, but are symbols Government’s commitment to facilitating the ease of doing business in Kenya.
