IndiGo, India’s leading airline carrier, recently made an exciting announcement, unveiling Nairobi as its 28th international destination in its rapidly expanding network.
Starting from August 5, 2023, IndiGo will operate daily non-stop flights between Mumbai, the financial capital of India, and Nairobi, the bustling capital city of Kenya.
This strategic move marks IndiGo’s impressive entry into the African subcontinent, bringing a host of advantages for both business and leisure travelers.
The new route signifies a significant milestone in IndiGo’s international expansion strategy, bolstering the already strong ties in trade, travel, and strategic cooperation between the two nations, thereby stimulating economic growth.
Vinay Malhotra, the Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, expressed his delight, emphasizing the importance of this direct connection between Mumbai and Nairobi. He stated, “We are thrilled to inaugurate direct flights between Mumbai and Nairobi, a significant step towards strengthening the bilateral ties between India and Kenya.”
In recent years, the two countries have witnessed noteworthy developments in trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges.
India has emerged as Kenya’s third-largest trading partner, with increased investments in crucial sectors such as commerce, technology, and agriculture.
The new air route will further enhance economic ties and establish seamless connectivity between the two nations.

Their foray into Kenya also received accolades from the Kenya Tourism Board Acting CEO, John Chirchir.Chirchir expressed his satisfaction with IndiGo’s direct flights, which are set to commence in August 2023.
