EPRA has declared new fuel prices with significant changes –Petrol decreases by Ksh5.00 per litre, diesel decreases by Ksh2 per litre, and kerosene decreases by Ksh4.01 per litre.
- In Nairobi, Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene will now retail at Sh212.36, Sh201.47 and Sh199.05 respectively.
- In Mombasa, Petrol will now retail at Sh209.3 and diesel at Sh198.41 and Kerosene will now cost Sh195.92.
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced a reduction of fuel prices in the latest review.
In the review, Super Petrol price has been reduced by Sh5, while diesel and Keronese have been reduced by Sh2 and Sh4 respectively.
In Nairobi, Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene will now retail at Sh212.36, Sh201.47, and Sh199.05 respectively.
The changes are effective at midnight for the next 30 days.
“The prices are inclusive of 16 per cent Value Added Tax in line with the provision of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020, and the revised rates for exercise duty adjusted for inflation as per legal notice No.194 of 20220,” Epra said in a statement.
In Mombasa, Petrol will now retail at Sh209.3 and diesel at Sh198.41 and Kerosene will now cost Sh195.92.
In Eldoret, Petrol will retail at 212.12, diesel at 201.65, and kerosene at Sh199.23; in Nakuru, petrol, diesel and kerosene will retail at Sh211.35, Sh200.88 and Sh198.46 respectively.
The authority has attributed the decrease to a reduction in the landed cost of imported petrol.
According to Epra, the reduced cost is a result of a decrease in landing price by 16.11 per cent from US$827.75 per cubic metre in October 2023 to US$694.44 per cubic metre in November 2023.
For Diesel’s landing cost, it decreased by 5.43 per cent from US$873.42 per cubic metre to US$826.01 per cubic metre while Kerosene decreased by 6.63 per cent from US$813.90 per cubic metre to US$759.93 per cubic metre.
Kenyans from across all divides have been calling for the reduction of fuel prices, as the cost of living has been skyrocketing.
