CBK's Gerald Nyaoma Arita Deputy Governor
The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) welcomes Mr. Gerald Nyaoma Arita, as he begins his term as Deputy Governor. This follows his appointment by His Excellency President William Samoei Ruto, PhD., C.G.H.
Mr. Nyaoma returns to CBK after having had a long and distinguished career at the Bank.
He joined CBK in August 1988, and served in various senior positions including the Financial Markets, Banking Services, and Internal Audit Departments, culminating in his role as the Director of the Bank Supervision Department.
Mr. Nyaoma holds an M. Phil. (Econ.) degree from the University of Cambridge, UK, and BA (Economics) degree from the University of Nairobi. Mr. Nyaoma is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K), a Certified Public Secretary (CPS-K) and an Associate of the Kenya Institute of Bankers (AKIB).
Befor his appointment Mr.Nyaoma Arita was the director of the Bank Supervision Department at the CBK, Nyaoma is a veteran in the regulatory landscape, having joined the Central Bank in 1988.
He has served on the Board of the SACCO Societies Regulatory Authority as an Alternate Member to the Governor.
Governor Dr. Kamau Thugge said: “On behalf of the CBK Board, Management and Staff, I wish to congratulate Mr. Nyaoma on his appointment. It is an honour and a pleasure to welcome him back to the Central Bank of Kenya.”
In December last year,The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) welcomes Ms. Isis Nyong’o, Dr. Kemboi Kipruto, Dr. Freshia Mugo, and Mr. Jared Osoro, as members of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), following their appointment on November 22, 2024.
