Amsons Group, a Pan-African energy and manufacturing conglomerate, has officially begun the process of integrating Bamburi Cement, a local cement products manufacturer, into its operations.
This integration, managed through its Kenyan subsidiary and investment arm, Amsons Industries (K) Ltd, follows a significant milestone where Amsons Group acquired over 95% of Bamburi’s issued equity shares for US $183 million last year.
In a statement confirming the commencement of the integration,, Amsons Group Managing Director Mr. Edha Nahdi was confident that the exercise would be successful and that it would cut out as much of the operational and administrative disruptions as possible.
”I would like to assure all Bamburi Cement stakeholders that we are committed to maintaining and improving the high operational and commercial standards set by Lafarge and Holcim Ltd.
This is our promise to our customers, employees, banks, suppliers, and all stakeholders,”; Nahdi said. He explained that the company aims to maintain and improve the operational standards and policies set by Bamburi’s previous majority shareholders.
To honor this commitment, Mr. Nahdi confirmed that Amsons Group will retain the professional services of the executive management team, led by Bamburi Cement CEO Mr. Mohit Kapoor, to ensure continuity and excellence.
In meeting Bamburi Cement’s stakeholders, Mr. Nahdi referred to the company as the newest member of the Amsons family, noting its key role in the company’s pan-African expansion strategy.
”Together with our flagship cement operation, Camel Cement, and the developing Mbeya Cement operations, we are delighted to welcome Bamburi Cement to this progressive and dynamic family”; Nahdi said.
He further added, ”With Amsons Group now actively starting the integration process, we have a strategic growth plan for Bamburi Cement centered on growth and significant contribution to national development in Kenya.”
Amsons Group is a family-owned business that was founded in 2006 in Tanzania on the platform of integrity and a conviction of mutual prosperity.
Even though its roots originates in the importation of bulk oil and petroleum products under the Camel Oil Tanzania retail brand, the business has developed incrementally and diversified into several industries.
