KCB is seeking a deeper partnership with the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) in the areas of sustainability and support towards small and medium enterprises across East Africa.
The UNGC CEO and Executive Director Sanda Ojiambo yesterday paid a courtesy call on the Group CEO & MD Joshua Oigara. KCB is seeking to support the UNGC key agendas around driving integrity, green agenda, Sustainable Development Goals, and SMEs financing. “We have prioritized making a positive social impact, acting ethically, and ensuring the long-term environmental sustainability of our operations and investments,” said Mr. Oigara.
The Bank is a signatory of the UN Global Compact. KCB has for example adopted nine of the 17 SDGs with net-zero commitment in line with the Paris Climate Change Agreement. The milestones KCB is looking forward to incorporating include the Global Climate Fund accreditation, acceleration of climate mitigation and adaptation efforts, and driving all financial flows to be consistent with a pathway towards low-emissions, climate-resilient development.
