Luxury Retreat Kasbah Tamadot Reopens After Restoration
Mark your calendars! Kasbah Tamadot, the luxurious oasis founded by Sir Richard Branson, officially reopens today after an extensive, year-long restoration.
Nestled in the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains of Morocco, this hidden gem had been largely closed following the region’s devastating earthquake.
Celebrated for its authentic Berber hospitality—where every member of the staff is Moroccan—Kasbah Tamadot welcomes guests back with open arms, featuring a fully refurbished main building and an enticing new dining experience at Asayss.
Additionally, the hotel introduces six stunning new Riads, enhancing its capacity from 28 to 42 rooms, all with spectacular mountain views.
Reflecting on the past year’s challenges, Branson commented, “Witnessing the aftermath of the earthquake was devastating. However, the resilience and hospitality of the Berber people in the face of such tragedy was uplifting. We promised to restore Kasbah Tamadot to its original glory, and with the support of so many wonderful individuals, we’ve made that promise a reality. My mum would have adored our new Riads.”
In response to the earthquake, the hotel team and local Berber communities joined forces, rallying around their charitable initiative, the Eve Branson Foundation, and raising £1 million for emergency relief.
Throughout this challenging time, the staff continued to be employed, and Berber Tents remained operational, keeping tourism alive in the area.
David Redouane Assabb, the hotel’s General Manager, expressed his enthusiasm: “Kasbah Tamadot represents the heart of the High Atlas and its Berber communities.
We are ecstatic to fully reopen and welcome both returning and new guests. A big thank you to all our supporters, whose generosity has helped local communities rebuild.”
The newly launched Riads are a highlight of the reopening, providing exceptional accommodations for up to 10 guests, each featuring private bathrooms, lounge areas, and terraces. For a breathtaking experience, guests can reserve the stunning Rooftop Tented Suite, complete with a hot tub.
Meticulously decorated with traditional Moroccan aesthetics, each Riad comes with private pool access, offering the same level of luxurious hospitality found throughout the hotel. Families and groups can reserve Riads for exclusive use, ensuring a memorable stay filled with privacy and charm.
In addition to the Riads, Kasbah Tamadot maintains its iconic luxury Berber Tents, each with private terraces perfect for outdoor dining.
Guests can enjoy the spectacular infinity pool, surrounded by uninterrupted mountain vistas, or indulge in local spa treatments, traditional Hammam experiences, Moroccan cooking classes, and guided adventures in the stunning surrounding landscape.
Ready to book your dream escape? Rates for the new Riads start at MAD 45,100 for a three-bedroom unit on a B&B basis, while hotel rates begin at MAD 7,200 for two guests sharing, inclusive of breakfast.
