- Britam and Little Partner to Enhance Passenger Safety;
Britam has partnered with ride-hailing company Little to enhance its ‘Be Safe’ insurance cover, providing passengers with greater protection during their rides.
The customer-centric cover, which includes personal accident and property insurance, reinforces safety for both commuters and corporates who rely on Little for transport services.
Be Safe now offers a comprehensive solution that includes accidental death and permanent total disability coverage of up to Ksh500,000, accidental medical expenses of up to Ksh150,000, and the replacement of personal and corporate belongings such as phones and laptops, with coverage up to Ksh150,000.
Additionally, the package includes Ksh5,000 per day in compensation for employees who are unable to work due to hospitalization, for up to 30 days.
Passengers can activate the ‘Be Safe’ cover via the ‘Settings icon’ on the Little app.
“With ‘Be Safe,’ Britam provides a streamlined solution for passengers using ride-hailing services.
This cover allows affected parties to easily claim for both personal injury and loss of belongings, offering convenience,” said Evah Kimani, Britam’s Director, Partnership and Digital.
The package covers all vehicle categories used by Little, including Comfort+, Boda Boda, shuttles, and 14-seater buses, with premiums ranging between Ksh15 and Ksh20 per ride. For instance, Comfort+ category rides will have a Ksh 20 per ride premium, while Boda Boda, shuttles, and 14-seater buses will have a Ksh15 per ride premium.
Little CEO and Founder Kamal Budhabhatti explained that the partnership with Britam aligns with their commitment to rider safety and building trust among corporate clients.

This partnership comes as the digital taxi industry in Kenya continues to grow, with more corporates integrating ride-hailing services into their operations.
According to a report by Statista, Kenya’s ride-hailing market is set to reach Ksh6.5 billion by the end of 2024, with annual growth projected at 10.44%.
By 2029, the market could reach Ksh10.7 billion, with users increasing to 12.14 million.
