Ethiopian Airlines Group,Africa’s largest airline group, announced that it has been crowned as the winner of the ‘Best Entertainment’ and ‘Best Wi-Fi’ in Africa awards for yet another year at the APEX Passenger Choice Awards 2024.
Ethiopian Airlines has collaborated with multiple service providers to cater to the diverse demographics and passenger tastes.
Ethiopian introduced onboard Wi-Fi connectivity using the latest state-of-the-art broadband satellite technology (Ka-band),allowing passengers to enjoy reliable connectivity for sending emails, shopping online, or even chatting on social media while flying over the clouds.
Congratulating on the milestone, Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, said:

Ethiopian Airlines currently operates 20 Boeing 777 aircraft and recently announced the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)for the purchase of eight 777-9 passenger airplanes and the potential for up to 12 additional.
Ethiopian Airlines was also the first African airline to order and operate the Boeing 777-200LR and took possession of its first 777 model back in 2010.
Ethiopian Airlines, the largest and leading aviation group in Africa, and its longstanding partner Boeing [NYSE:BA] announced the carrier to order 11 787 Dreamliner and 20 737 MAX airplanes with an opportunity for 15 and 21 additional jets, respectively.The agreement, signed by Ethiopia’s national carrier at the Dubai Airshow, represents the largest-ever purchase of Boeing airplanes in African history.
The new commitment positions Ethiopian Airlines to further strengthen and diversify its fleet, which currently includes more than 80 Boeing jets. Ethiopian operates Africa’s largest Dreamliner fleet with a mix of 787-8s and 787-9s. The new 737 MAX order, which will grow the airline’s backlog for the fuel-efficient jet to 50, will be posted on Boeing’s Orders & Deliveries website when finalized.
