- Deluxe Trucks introduces all-new Ashok Leyland Boss1218 and Phoenix Brands;
Deluxe Trucks & Buses E.A. Ltd has unveiled the all-new Ashok Leyland Boss 1218 and Phoenix trucks adding to its product range which includes the 2518il tipper and the 9016.
The Ashok Leyland trucks will be assembled locally at Simba Corp’s AVA plant in Mombasa.The Boss 1218 will retail at Sh4.4million whereas the Phoenix will retail at Sh2.3million.
Both vehicles will have a five-year or 500,000 km warranty and will be available with up to 95 per cent financing from the firm’s various financial partners.
“This launch marks a tremendous milestone in the 53-year history of Simba Corp Ltd. This launch is a testament to the faith we have in our product and also a long-standing commitment to our customers, that we have them covered,” said Naresh Leekha, Managing Director of Simba Corp.
Head Of Africa Business Ashok Leyland, Sachin Dasharath noted that Kenya is a strategic market for Ashok Leyland in the African continent as it is the headquarters of its East African operations.
“We are happy to launch the all-new Phoenix, which we have tried and tested on more than 50,000 km of Kenyan roads, within the past year.
We see great opportunity in the market and we look forward to growing our business in Kenya,” said Sachin.
On her part, the chief guest,Her Excellency Namgya Khampa, High Commissioner of India, praised the partnership between Ashok Leyland and Deluxe Trucks and Buses.
“This partnership shows the good relationship that Kenya has with India and we are looking forward to continuing to enhance trade between both countries.
As India, we have been growing our manufacturing base and are on hand to help transfer those skills and especially in automotive industry,” she said.
The Boss 1218, is a medium-duty truck that comes with a 6-cylinder turbocharged engine, which produces 180 Horsepower and enables it to carry up to 10 tonnes with ease.
On the other hand, the Phoenix is a fuel-efficient, last-mile delivery pick-up with a 1.5 liter, 3-cylinder, turbocharged engine that enables it to carry up to 2 tonnes.
